Edo Deputy Governor Shaibu Reveals Real Reason Behind Fallout With Obaseki
Reinstated Edo Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has said that had Principal Godwin Obaseki acted wisely, he would have given up on his governorship ambitions.
If anything, Obaseki's alleged threats and dictatorial behaviour have strengthened Shaibu's resolve to pursue his ambitions.
Shaibu, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke candidly during a courtesy visit to the APC National Working Committee in Abuja on Thursday.
He described Obaseki as a dictator and expressed feelings of being betrayed despite his loyalty and sacrifices.

Shaibu claimed victory in the PDP gubernatorial primary in Edo State, which has 381 delegates, but was barred from entering the venue. His legitimacy has since been vindicated by two court rulings which declared his representatives to be genuine.
Mr Shaibu emphasised his commitment to internal democracy and ambition to bring order to the state, saying he would have supported another candidate if they shared his vision.
However, according to him, it was Obaseki's actions that sparked the clash and he is determined to prevent Edo State democracy from being derailed by authoritarianism.
He said: "The point is, we want to prove that internal democracy must be respected and utilised." You can lobby, you can talk to people and people will understand. If the governor had shown leadership, I might not have run because I am not such a desperate person.
"My ambition is not exaggerated. I have an ambition to stabilize the state. If someone else agrees that we can solve the problem together, I will follow suit. But the governor wanted to act like a military dictator. And I fought. I led the people who fought for this democracy. I started the youth movement. I believe that you are one of the most important people for this democracy that we have now. And we cannot stand by and watch as this democracy goes awry and dictatorship takes over."
